Responsible for general accounting duties and projects, including grant accounting
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Accounting Responsibilities
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries in an accurate and timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Monthly reconciliations include Student Accounts Receivable, Security Deposits, Campus Store transactions and inventory, and other accounts as assigned
- Reconcile all bank account balances with monthly bank statements and prepare journal entries as needed
- Support internal team in month-end and year-end close process
- Assist in preparing deliverables for auditors during interim and year-end audit
- Record and reconcile Perkins transactions: collection agencies, bank, due to/due from accounts
- Responsible for all Perkins reporting requirements for FAFSA & for financial audit
- Liaison for all student club accounting
- Other duties as assigned
Grant Accounting
- Timely and accurate recording of research grant transactions and draw down of grant funds
- Calculation of fringe benefit rate, indirect cost rate and payroll allocations
- Prepare grant account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Responsible for quarterly and annual grant reporting requirements, including grant budgets
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration with Accounting major
- Minimum of 3 years of financial accounting experience
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year end close procedures
- Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including lookups and pivot tables
Preferred
- Experience in not-for-profit and/or higher education environment
- Experience with Microsoft GP Dynamics
